Kia Ora,
The Ed mentioned in the Rave that a team of us are working with Jim Eagles to put together a substantial hard cover book celebrating our Sesquicentennial in 2023. Our Committee has nominated Queens Birthday weekend to acknowledge this historic occasion. This year we will be appointing a sub committee to organise what promises to be the most memorable weekend in our history.
We are seeking people to assist us who have experience in coordinating large events and I’m sure we have suitably experienced types within our extensive membership. If you’d like to give us a hand please contact me. Our plan is to have small groups looking after different facets of the long weekend running from Friday 2/6 to Monday 5/6/23. So you would have keen members willing to assist you. Now is the right time to begin our plans.
With regard to the book, we’re seeking your help with historic and interesting photos, we have lots at the club but there’s gaps. We’d like Championship winning teams and amateur shots of club actives and memorable people. We’d appreciate good shots with names and if possible a date, they are welcome from all era’s. Think historic, interesting, amusing or a little quirky. Claudia Webb is coordinating that and she’d prefer them digitally but hard copies are equally welcome. She’s very efficient and you’ll be sure to get them back. We would also like to hear any memorable stories you may have, perhaps passed down through the generations or of your own experience. Happy or sad, funny or tragic it’s the stuff that built our club. Don’t worry about spelling or grammar, imagine you’re having a coffee or beer with your mates and let flow. Then send them to me or Jim Eagles.

I’m presently researching the post war to 60’s and I hoping someone can help me track down a few families : Swinnerton, Curtayne, Gumley, and Cuthbertson. Also two long term coaches from the era Tom Nolan and Max Wright, who incidentally I was named after, Dad obviously wasn’t sure of his spot. There’s bound to be others, I’ll let you know.If you up to helping out with anything I’ve mentioned please give me a call or email anytime. I’m free all day everyday.
